What is Panorama?

Panorama is a non-invasive DNA screening test that can tell you important information about your pregnancy, as early as nine weeks of gestation. With Panorama, you can find out about the likelihood of your baby having a chromosomal condition, such as Down syndrome, with a simple blood test. If you so choose, you may also find out the gender of your baby.

Why is this important?

Nowadays, every family planning a baby should consult a geneticist and undergo screening tests to protect the unborn child from possible problems with genetic developmental abnormalities.
Approximately 5% of children are born with developmental disabilities, half of which have severe defects that lead to death or disability.

In most cases, abnormal development of the child is due to pathological abnormalities in chromosomes or mutations at the genetic level. They can be caused by adverse environmental factors (ecology, lifestyle, age of parents).
To detect hereditary pathologies, there are a variety of methods of prenatal diagnosis - both invasive and non-invasive.
Invasive include chorionic villus sampling, amniocentesis and cordocentesis. These procedures are complex and are performed only on the advice of a doctor, as they pose a potential risk to the health of both mother and fetus.
Modern non-invasive diagnostic methods include tests based on the isolation of fetal DNA from maternal blood samples. Among these is the non-invasive prenatal DNA test Panorama ™.

Why choose panorama

• Panorama can be performed as early as nine weeks into pregnancy.
• Panorama is performed with a simple blood draw from the mother’s arm, posing no risk to the fetuscompared to amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling (CVS).
• Panorama offers complimentary pre- and post-test information sessions with board-certified genetic counselorsand/ or fetal medicine consultants.
• More than 2 million women in more than 80 countries have chosen Panorama.
•Panorama offers prenatal screening for twin, egg donor, and surrogate pregnancies!

What Panorama Screens For?
Panorama is a non-invasive prenatal screening test that distinguishes between fetal and maternal cell-free DNA thanks to Natera´s advanced DNA analysis and bioinformatics technology. Panorama screens for some of the most common genetic conditions and the baby’s gender (optional).
Some conditions, such as Down syndrome, are caused by extra copies of a specific chromosome. Others, such as microdeletions, occur when a chromosome is missing a smaller piece of genetic information. Unlike Down syndrome, where the age of the mother affects the risk, microdeletions have the same risk whatever the age of the mother.
Using advanced bioinformatics techniques, Panorama screens for a broad panel of chromosomal conditions, including:
Whole Chromosome conditions: • Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome)
• Trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome)
• Trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome)
• Triploidy
Gender of the Baby (optional)
Sex Chromosome conditions: • Monosomy X (Turner syndrome)
• Other sex chromosome conditions: these are reported if suspected
o Klinefelter syndrome o Triple X syndrome
Microdeletions: • 22q11.2 deletion syndrome
• 1p36 deletion syndrome
• Prader Willi syndrome
• Angelman syndrome
• Cri-du-chat syndrome
Twin Pregnancies Identical and fraternal twins:
• Zygosity (shows whether twins are identical or fraternal)
• Individual fetal fraction for dizygotic (non-identical) twins
• Trisomy 21, Trisomy 18, Trisomy 13
• Gender of each twin (optional)

If our screening finds that your twins are identical, Panorama can additionally screen for:
• Monosomy X (Turner syndrome)
• Other sex chromosome conditions will be reported if suspected.
• 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (optional) br> Egg Donor or Surrogate Pregnancies
• Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome)
• Trisomy 18 (Edwards syndrome)
• Trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome)
• Gender (optional)

Clinical advantage

• Panorama detects conditions that other tests can’t, including molar pregnancy, triploidy and vanishing twin.
• Panorama screens for Down syndrome with an accuracy rate greater than 99%.
•Panorama is the only test that differentiates between maternal and fetal DNA, which helps avoid false positives.
• Among commercially available NIPTs, Panorama has the highest published accuracy in determining the baby’s gender.
• Panorama has the highest sensitivity for 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, a common and potential severe microdeletion that impacts women equally regardless of age.

Is Panorama right for me?
According to the International Society for Prenatal Diagnosis (ISPD), non-invasive prenatal testing, including Panorama, is appropriate as a primary screening test for pregnant women of all ages. Down syndrome and certain other chromosomal conditions occur more frequently in babies born to mothers over 35 years old. Other conditions for which Panorama screens – such as microdeletion syndromes – occur with the same frequency in babies, regardless of the mother’s age. There are pregnancies where Panorama cannot be used at present. These include:
• Triplets or higher order multiple gestations
• Donor egg or surrogate pregnancies with twins
• Pregnant women who are bone marrow transplant recipients
• Pregnancies where there is known to have been a ‘vanished twin’
Your healthcare professional can advise you as to whether Panorama is suitable in your pregnancy.

Personalized results

Low risk

A low risk result indicates that it is very unlikely that your baby is affected by one of the conditions on the Panorama panel.

High risk

A high-risk result does not mean the baby has a chromosomal abnormality; rather, it indicates a very high probability that your baby may have that condition.
Your healthcare provider may recommend that you speak with a genetic counselor and/ or maternal fetal medicine specialist. You may be offered invasive diagnostic testing such as amniocentesis or CVS. No irreversible pregnancy decisions should ever be made based on a Panorama result alone.

No results

In a small percentage of cases, Panorama may not be able to obtain sufficient information from your blood sample to
determine an accurate result. If this occurs, a second blood sample may be requested.
